Swinburne Ultimate Weekend: 27 Feb 2009

Swinburne Weekend Info Pack

This info pack will provide you will all the info you need to ready yourself for a weekend of Ultimate Fun!

Dates: 27 Feb – 1 March 2009

Venue: Appin Farm, Swinburne (near Harrismith), Free State

Who: Anyone and their dog who are interested in spending a weekend on a relaxed Free State farm. Ultimate players from Johannesburg, Pietermaritzburg and Durban are especially encouraged to come, and to put together 7-a-side teams for the Saturday morning. Beginners are welcome – there will be a great fun hat tourney on the Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning!

What you need to do right now:

Tell your Liaison Officer whether you are coming:

* Johannesburg: Tina: tine_schubert@web.de
* Durban: Bryan Bryan.Courtney@ogilvy.co.za
* Pietermaritzburg: Juan Juan.Pieterse@hulamin.co.za
* All other regions: Jen jennifer@sfh.co.za

Provisional numbers will be collated on Monday the 16th of Feb

Final numbers, your accommodation preference and your R100 – R120 weekend fee should be in on Friday the 20th of Feb (fee will still be calculated by Hilton). We are going to be strict about this deadline as food needs to be bought and plans drawn up. No pay on that day, no play.

This will include your tourney fee, breakfast and lunch Saturday and Sunday, and munchies throughout.

So, what do you need to know?

Accommodation

Accommodation is basic – no frills and no room service.

* Camping: R60 pppn
* Barn accommodation (dormitory-style): R50 pppn
* Rooms: R120 pppn (rooms consist of 2 single beds and an en suite bathroom)

The Liaison officers will collect your accommodation money on the Sunday morning, so make sure you bring enough cash to the farm.

There are plenty of showers for the campers and dorm people in the common facilities. There is a fridge in the barn as well as in the big kitchen. Lots of power points – also for the camping.

Meals

Johannesburg will buy the food and there will be a cooking roster drawn up by Marc for cooking turns. There is a big kitchen with gas and plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.

There will be a fire lit in the lapa for people who want to braai on Friday night – otherwise just eat en route. Salads and side-dishes will be provided for the Saturday night supper – you bring what you want to braai.

Drinks

Please bring your own drinks! Don’t forget enough water and other drinks to keep you happy.

Provisional game plan

This depends on the number of people who confirm. Hilton and Mich are the Tourney Directors and will give through info closer to the time.

Provisional programme:

* Saturday morning: 7-a-side games
* Saturday afternoon: Mixed hat tourney 5-a-side
* Saturday evening with sun-downers: First Ever Free State Disc Golf Tourney hosted by South African Disc Gold Association (SAGDA)
