Swinburne 2010

We had a super cool time in Swinburne and played some great games of Ultimate in very beautiful surroundings. We kicked off with a five-a-side round robin on Saturday morning which was won by Mixed Nuts. After lunch some of us gathered on the disc golf course for a round of golf where Juan produced a brilliant hole in one on the 8th causing much excitement. Saturday’s activities finished off with a game of “SOCIAL!”, at the end of which many of us were decidedly jolly and very, very hungry. On Sunday morning, Gauteng played KZN and lost in a closely contested game (although we donated Tina to KZN for the game – a clear advantage for the opposition!!). All in all, a superb weekend of Ultimate, Disc golf and socializing.

On behalf of all those who attended I’d like to thank the following people for organising an amazing weekend:

  • Mike Weston was the Tournament Coordinator and did a sterling job (and for this reason, we have nominated Mike as coordinator of all future tournaments J). Mike, another big thanks for arranging the prizes.
  • Marlise booked the farm weeks in advanced and got the show on the road. Marlise sent numerous e-mails preceding the tournament and also made loads of oats in the morning.
  • Hilt and Mich catered for 20 or so starving disc players – we had brilliant meals and lots of marshmallows for the braai!
  • Jen did the accounting and very patiently helped us work out what we owed and waited while we ran off in different directions to gather our $.
